Sail NB AGM & Award Nominations!

Sail New Brunswick's annual general meeting is to be held on November 3rd, 2019 at 2:00 pm at CCNB (NBCC) in Dieppe. The AGM will be held in Room 1115A

There is no charge to attend the AGM and we encourage everyone who is available, to attend in order to be well informed about our operations and to allow anyone to voice any concerns or comments they may have.

Here are descriptions of the awards we have available:

Sailor of the Year---- Sail NB’s most prestigious award, is presented annually to the NB sailor for bringing recognition to NB Sailing and the New Brunswick Sailing Association.  The individual nominated for this award must:
  • Have been significantly involved in an activity which, during the previous 12 months, has provided recognition to Canadian sailing and the New Brunswick Sailing Association.
  • Have shown leadership qualities with respect to the event of activity.
  • Have demonstrated sportsmanship and gained the respect of fellow sailors.

 
Female Sailor of the Year---- The female sailor of the year is awarded to an
Individual athlete or crew with a record of outstanding achievement in provincial or national competition in the previous twelve months.  The nominated athlete(s) must:
  • Have a record of outstanding achievement in provincial, national orinternational competition in the previous 12 months and brought recognition to competetive sailing.                    
  • Through behavior and manner, have set an example for otherCompetitors. Have demonstrated leadership and sportsmanship.
  • Be female.
  • Be a NB resident.
 
3.    Male Sailor of the Year ---  Same as above.

4.     Sail NB Volunteer of the Year --   The Volunteer award is awarded to recognize
        outstanding contributions by Sail NB volunteers.  The contribution can be related
        to activities by the candidate over a period of years or to a specific event or
        program during  a particular year.  The candidates must:
  • Have shown leadership qualities with respect to the event oractivity. 
  • Be  a  NB resident. 

5.     Sail NB Coach or Instructor of the Year----  award recognizes an Instructor or
        Coach who has contributed to the advancement of Sailing at the Club/School level.   
        The candidate must:
  • Be a Sail Canada Learn to Sail Instructor/CANSail 1-2-3-4-5-6- in goodstanding with the New Brunswick Sailing Association.
  • Have shown leadership qualities with respect to the programsat the Club or community level
  • Through his/her behavior and manner, have set an example for other Instructors/coaches.
  • Be a NB resident.
 
6.     Lifetime Achievement Award  -- award to be presented to a person who   
         has made an overwhelming contribution to Sailing  that is consistent with Spirit or
         Sport values in the areas of leadership, sport development, innovation and
         growth.  The candidate must:
  • Demonstrate lifetime achievement with a minimum of 20 years of volunteer experience in Sailing.
  • This award can be presented only once in a lifetime.
  • ​This person must be acting in an unpaid capacity to be eligible in this category.
